Kajitsu, the Michelin Star Shojin Cuisine Restaurant, is seeking full-time and part-time servers with New York City service experience.

Shojin cuisine refers to a type of vegetarian cooking that originates in Zen Buddhism.

Even though it does not use meat or fish, shojin is regarded as the foundation of all Japanese cuisine,

especially kaiseki, the Japanese version of haute cuisine. In its present form kaiseki is a multi-course

meal in which fresh, seasonal ingredients are prepared in ways that enhance the flavor of

each component, with the finished dishes beautifully arranged on plates.

All of these characteristics come from shojin cuisine, which is still prepared in Buddhist temples

throughout Japan.

We are searching for experienced servers who would like to learn more about Japanese culture and Shojin cuisine, can work in a fast-paced environment, stays guest-focused and nurtures an excellent Guest experience! Knowledge of Sake, Wine, and Japanese green tea is prefered but not required. We’re looking for servers who can work full-time, but we’re hiring part-time as well. Your knowledge and experiences should include, but certainly is not limited to:

* Ensuring an extraordinary guest experience

* Creating an environment of teamwork

* Working in a fine dining setting

* Providing unparalleled hospitality to guest and team members

* Keeping service stations clean and organized

* Communicating to management

US:

We are here in NYC to educate the people on and expose them to traditional Japanese cuisine that is not often found in the United States. For our servers, we instill a strong knowledge on formal Japanese Kaiseki service, as well as sake and Japanese tea education. We’re looking to expand our team with a diverse group of people with a passion for learning and growing in the hospitality industry.
