Ippodo Gallery has remained devoted to the appreciation of Japanese culture and tradition through exquisitely crafted, high quality artwork since 1996. With the headquarter gallery in Tokyo, New York gallery space opened in 2008 and continues to bring meaningful Japanese art, experience, and hospitality towards a Western audience.
New York gallery is operating in the prime gallery district in NY ( 32 E. 67th Street ) and works with collectors, curators, designers, dealers and auction houses worldwide.
It will be a fast paced and serious work environment with great exposure to the finest artworks and art world.
We are looking for an individual who can work at the gallery for ongoing projects, has skills in English, Japanese, as well as the updated computer skills and communication skills.
Strong writing skills and/or social medial experience are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- General administrative support and assistance in daily operations of the gallery
- Point of contact for gallery visitors
- Assist with updating inventory database and organize digital files
- Assist with organizing physical inventory on-and off site
- Assistance in managing and coordinating schedules for installation of exhibitions and art fairs
- Art handling
- Gallery basic bookkeeping
- Maintain and update website and digital photographic archive
- Interact with collectors, artists, and gallery visitors
- Organize shipments of artwork both to and from the Gallery
- Assist with the press outreach for exhibitions
- Maintain database, generate checklists and artwork offers
- Assist with email correspondence
- Assist with Installation of the show
- Collaborating with museums, designers and assist marketing plans
Requirements:
- Professional, friendly and positive
- Honest, discreet and healthy
- Experience in retail or art world
- Bachelor degree ( preferably in Art or Art management )
- Demonstrated interest in the Japanese art, ceramics, or tea ceremony world at large
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multitask, and work as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Cooperative and supportive
- Experience in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office
