Japanese-English Bilingual Expat Administrative Specialist

SUMMARY
Under supervision, performs work that is varied and may be somewhat technical in nature. Involves limited responsibility for final decisions. Some evaluation, originality and ingenuity required. Knows and applies fundamental concepts and procedures. May check work or otherwise support expat employees as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrate all HR functions related to Japanese expatriate (“expat”) employees.
• Plan and perform all HR matters related to expat employees based on expatriates’ rule of parent company in Japan.
• Communicate in Japanese language (verbal and written) with HR Department of Japanese parent company to understand its expatriates’ rule and provide better support to expat employees, as well as members of HR and business units.
• Administrate HR processes in Workday ATS for expat employees.
• Working closely with immigration attorneys, administrate all immigration matters for expat employees, including their accompanying family from outside the US.
• Working closely with outside global consulting/accounting firm, administrate payroll transactions for expat employees.
• Support expat employees to file US income tax returns.
• Uses established procedures.
• Performs work that is varied and may be somewhat technical in nature.
• May check work or otherwise support expat employees as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 3 years of previous work experience in private business organization in US preferred
• Work experience in American/Japanese bi-cultural organization or in Japan helpful but not required

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Ability to communicate in Japanese at native level (verbal and written), and in English at business level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams/Zoom communication platforms.
• Able to establish and maintain positive relations with rotational and national staff management.
• Able to demonstrate sound judgment on policy administration.
• Highly organized and can work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $ 72K year
