SŌRATE is a New York–based Japanese tea company specializing in authentic ceremonial matcha and traditional green tea sourced directly from Uji, Kyoto — the birthplace of matcha. Inspired by the philosophy and ritual of the Japanese tea ceremony, SŌRATE brings a refined and tranquil tea experience to New York City.
Our SoHo Teahouse, inspired by the intimate tea spaces of Kyoto, has been featured in SNS and CBS News and is recognized as one of New York’s leading matcha destinations. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teahouse Manager to oversee daily operations and uphold the exceptional standards that define SŌRATE.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Teahouse Manager is responsible for ensuring seamless daily operations, maintaining impeccable store standards, managing inventory and team scheduling, and delivering an elevated, personalized guest experience. This role requires strong leadership, operational organization, and a deep appreciation for hospitality and tea culture.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Operations & Inventory
Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate stock levels
Place and manage inventory orders with suppliers
Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of tea and supplies
Maintain operational readiness of all tools, equipment, and materials
TEAM MANAGEMENT
Create and manage employee schedules
Support, guide, and motivate team members
Ensure smooth daily workflow and efficient team coordination
GUEST EXPERIENCE & SERVICE
Maintain the teahouse in impeccable condition at all times
Provide a unique, refined, and personalized guest experience
Educate guests on our curated tea offerings, including matcha grades and seasonal selections
Uphold SŌRATE’s hospitality standards inspired by Japanese tea ceremony philosophy
FLOW & ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
Manage busy service periods with calm and efficiency
Cultivate a healthy, breathable flow of guests within the space
Maintain a tranquil and welcoming environment even during peak hours
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in a managerial role (required)
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and hospitality skills
Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence
Interest in Japanese tea and matcha culture is highly appreciated

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Full-time position only
40 hours per week
$70,000 annualy
